KNEE PAIN
What causes knee pain?
Knee pain can have many different causes, such as injury, arthritis, ligament or cartilage tear, patellar tendonitis, bursitis or due to incorrectly aligned feet. You might notice pain that worsens from kneeling, squatting, bending and/or rising after long periods of sitting.
How is my knee pain related to my feet?
Since your feet are your foundation, foot problems can cause pain throughout the body. Pronation - flattening of the arches - is a major contributor to knee pain. During normal walking, the arches of your feet raise and lower while the bones of your legs rotate inward and outward. When there’s a problem with your feet, the rotation becomes excessive which leads to increased stress on your knees, hips and back.
How do I treat knee pain?
There are many ways to treat knee pain; it’s best to consult with your doctor before beginning any treatment. Rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medications are a good temporary fix; though, they won’t treat the root of the problem. Cortisone injections are a stronger anti-inflammatory that might be recommended by your doctor, depending on the degree of your pain, but they too are a temporary fix. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to repair torn or damaged tissue.
In order to treat the cause of the pain, you’ll need arch supports. Spenco Orthotic Arch Supports are designed to completely support your arch. Wearing supports allows the affected tissues to heal and restores joint function.
NOTE: Orthotic Arch Supports that provide rigid support are recommended for people with flat feet. If you have high arches, arch cushions, rather than arch supports are recommended.
Spenco Orthotic Arch Supports were awarded the prestigious Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.
